The results are in! The most affordable summer holiday city destination is Prague! The average costs for a holiday in Prague were the best for your purse strings with the average cost of a hotel being £245, the cost of a meal coming in at just £5.04, and a pint being a wonderful £0.71!
As for day trips and excursions in Prague, a taxi fare would start at £1.34 and the average cost of a day trip is in at £50.
The next most affordable cities are Budepest and Lisbon, giving holiday makers a great option of culture, climate and holiday style for less!

The Most Expensive European City Summer Holiday Destinations
On the other end of the scale, the data also revealed the most expensive European cities to visit this summer, and destinations in northern Europe came out trumps.
The most expensive holiday destination is Copenhagen. This Danish city is known for its cool and calm streets, coffee shops and architecture – as well as being a notoriously expensive city to travel to!
Up next on the big-spending list is Paris. This tourist hot spot is again very known for its price inflation, and for those looking to visit the city of love, the average 3-star hotel is an eye-watering £485.00!
Italian tourist hot-spots Rome and Venice also make the most expensive summer holiday city break list, proving that exploring the lesser-known tourist spots is the way forward to an affordable summer holiday city break.

Our analysis also considered the search volume for “holidays in X”, “flights to X” and “hotels in X” each location, so we could see which city is likely to be the most popular for eager holidaymakers.

This is great news for the UK holiday industry as London, Edinburgh and Dublin make the list for the most popular destinations!
However, London comes in 15th place for affordability, making it one of the more expensive European city destinations. A hotel for a week in the big smoke came in at £383 – not as expensive as the likes of Paris or Copenhagen, but still enough to potentially put some holidaymakers off.
